Urology
Urology is a branch of medicine that performs diagnosis, treatment and surgical interventions of various diseases of the urogenital system, including the urinary tract and reproductive organs. This discipline deals with many conditions affecting the health of organs such as the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, prostate, testes, ovaries and uterus. Urology plays an important role in male and female health. Conditions such as prostate diseases, erectile dysfunction and testicular problems commonly seen in men; urinary incontinence, bladder infections and reproductive health disorders in women fall within the scope of this field. In addition, conditions such as urinary tract infections, kidney stone disease and cancer are also evaluated and treated by urology specialists. Urology uses both medical and surgical methods in diagnosis and treatment processes. Physical examinations, laboratory tests, imaging techniques (such as ultrasound, tomography) and endoscopic examinations are performed to make a diagnosis. Treatment options include drug therapy, physical therapy, minimally invasive surgery and open surgical methods. Specialists in this field play an important role both in emergency situations and in the management of chronic diseases. Urology is therefore considered a critical area for general health and quality of life.
