A heel spur is a bony protrusion that occurs on the sole of the foot, near the heel bone, and is usually caused by irritation of the plantar fascia. Symptoms of Heel Spur
The heel spur usually manifests itself with pain and burning sensation in the heel area. Supportive shoes and heel spur insoles ensure that the foot is supported in the correct position and reduce irritation. Physiotherapy and stretching exercises can also help improve the flexibility of the plantar fascia. Surgical interventions are usually preferred in chronic cases where other treatment methods are not effective. Corticosteroid injections provide pain control by reducing inflammation.
